FPA Book Helps Planners Assess Skills, Market

Oct. 9, 2007 FPA Press, the publishing arm of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), has released a new book to help financial planners understand the market for their services and what skill sets apply to various markets.

In The Right Side of the Table: Where Do You Sit in the Minds of the Affluent? authors Scott Fithian and Todd Fithian contend that there is a wave of change in the financial planning profession such that people operating in a sales style or who strictly give technical advice will find their market shrinking and people who operate in a more client-centered, discernment-oriented style will find their market growing.

"This book reflects a pressing need for a new business model in the financial planning profession, one focused on how advisers must hone the skills they need in their practice to best serve their clients’ needs," said Marvin W. Tuttle Jr., FPA's executive director/CEO.

The Right Side of the Table is available at www.ShopFPA.org or by calling 800.322.4237. The book retails for $30 and is available to FPA members for $25.
